THE HUNGER

Non vedrete mai in Italia questo film, ma va visto. Voglio dedicare questa recensione a quel coglione che ieri mi ha scritto "l'unica maniera di fare arte è quella di NON avere coscienza politica." Questo film dimostra a lui e al resto del mondo che sono proprio gli artisti che hanno consapevolezza politica del periodo in cui vivono, a creare le cose migliori, ad avere quel successo che Socrate definiva tardivo ad arrivare ma più meritato e durevole nel tempo.
Tutti gli altri giocano e si divertono ai vernissage, si circondano di amici e si godono la bonarietà panzuta dei salotti borghesi.
Hunger è un film sulla libertà, sulla situazione dell'Irlanda negli ani 80, un film che parla di tutti quegli uomini che non ce l'hanno fatta, che non sono riusciti a essere dei non violenti dopo tutta la repressione subita e che alla fine ne hanno pagato le conseguenze. Nonostante questo, continuarono a lottare per la libertà e scelsero di farlo fino alla morte. Un film che ci ricorda come mai la Lady di ferro era soprannominata così, un film sulla Storia, la Storia reale, quella che non si insegna nelle scuole e che di sicuro non compare sui mass media. Un film sbalorditivo, importante anche nelle scelte tecniche, che dimostra come si possano coniugare bene la poetica e i contenuti. Un vero pugno nello stomaco insomma, potente, deciso e di sicuro effetto. Anche per chi è impermeabile all'impegno e guarda la Guernica di Picasso vedendoci solo animaletti buffi e strani...tzh!

I know that you will never see this film in Italy, but it should be seen. I want to dedicate this review to that asshole who yesterday wrote me, "the only way to make art is 'to NOT have political consciousness." This film shows to him and the rest of the world, that there are artists who have political awareness of the period in which they live, and they create their best works, and get the success that they deserve, the one that Socrates called late to arrive, but most deserved and long-lasting.
All other artists play and have fun at the vernissage, surrounded by their friends and enjoying the "fat kindliness of the middle class' living room."
Hunger is a film about freedom, about the irish situation in the 80s, and about all those men who didn't make it, they were not able to be non-violent under the repression, and after all, they end up paid the consequences. But beyond that they continued to fight for freedom, and choose to do so until their death. A film that reminds us why the Iron Lady was nicknamed  like that, a film about the history, the real history of which we don't teach in schools and for sure it will never appear in the Mainstream Media. A stunning film, which is important even in the technical choices, this movie demonstrates how can be possible to combine poetic and contents as well. A real punch in the stomach, powerful, strong, and highly effective. Even for those who are impermeable to commitment, and look at the Picasso's Guernica only seeing  funny creatures...tzh!
